Greg Oden was one of the most hyped big man that was drafted since the drafting of Kevin Garnett in the 1995 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Going into his freshman year at Ohio State, Oden was no doubt the top high school recruit. Oden played at an elite level at Ohio State University, and only played one year. After his freshman year, Oden entered the draft, and was drafted number one overall by the Portland Trailblazers in the 2007 NBA Draft.
Despite Oden’s glimpses of some impressive ability, he constantly was plagued with injuries. In September of 2007, Oden had microfracture surgery on his deficient right knee; which caused him to miss the entire season. Though Oden was drafted in 2007, the knee injury prevented him from being classified as a rookie until the 2008 season.
